Privacy policy
Effective March 1, 2024. Applies to faultline.example and the FaultLine customer portal.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly (when you sign up for service, complete forms, or contact support) and information generated by your use of our network and the customer portal. This includes:
- Account details: name, email, billing address, service address, phone, payment method.
- Service usage: aggregate bandwidth, session metadata, network performance signals.
- Equipment data: device MACs, firmware versions, signal levels, diagnostic counters.
- Communications with support: tickets, chat transcripts, recorded calls (where permitted).
- Portal activity: pages visited, features used, error reports.
2. How we use information
We use this information to provide and operate service, troubleshoot problems, bill customers, communicate about service, secure our network, comply with the law, and improve our products. We do not sell deep packet inspection data, and we do not sell customer browsing history.
3. Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us operate (billing processors, email delivery, fraud detection) under contract, with affiliates within FaultLine, and as required by law or court order. We will tell you about lawful requests where we are permitted to do so.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar storage to operate the site, secure accounts, measure performance, and (with consent) personalize marketing. See our cookie policy for the full list of categories and opt-out controls.
5. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information; opt out of certain processing; and complain to a regulator. To exercise any of these rights, sign in to the customer portal or email privacy@faultline.example. We respond within 30 days.
6. Children
FaultLine service is sold to adults aged 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Data retention and security
We retain account data for the life of the account plus 5 years for tax and legal purposes. Usage telemetry is retained for 13 months at customer-resolved granularity and indefinitely in aggregate. We protect data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, audit logging, and regular third-party assessments.
8. Changes to this policy
We will post changes here and, for material changes, notify customers by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the latest update.
